Asthma: Childhood Asthma

One of the most common health issues among youth today is childhood
asthma. This condition is the leading cause for missed school. Asthmatic children can have severe issues with this problem because of extreme activity. Just playing can bring on an attack.

Because children are still learning how their body works and how to
listen to it, it is difficult for children to recognize when there is
an awaiting attack. They might be totally unaware of the preceding
signs of an attack and because of this, not receive timely medical
help.

When a child does have asthma, it is essential for the child to try
and understand the symptoms of their condition, and how to notify
someone when there is a problem.

Any caregiver should be made aware of the child's asthma.  This is necessary so they can understand the signs and symptoms of an attack and be prepared to handle it with the appropriate treatment.

Currently, there is no cure for childhood asthma. It is believed that
some forms of childhood asthma are genetic.

Even though a preexisting condition, there are some environmental and
physical elements that can set off an asthmatic attack or breathing
problems. These elements include allergens, cigarette smoke, physical
activity, and even emotional reactions, like laughing.

If you believe that your child could possibly have asthma, you should
consult with your medical care giver promptly.  Understanding the
signs and symptoms of child asthma and recognizing them could
potentially save your child's life.

When a child is diagnosed early with this condition, it not only allows your child the potential to treat the condition, but perhaps even stay alive.
