Prevent Asthma

Asthma prevention is a topic that many parents of small children are
concerned about.  It has been proven that there are measures a parent
can do to ensure that their child does not get asthma, or at least reduce the risk of their small children developing this debilitating disease.

There are a couple matters of cleanliness in the home that can reduce
asthma risks.  One of these is by using mattress covers to prevent
exposure to dust mites. Dust mites are one common allergen that
induces asthma issues.

Some other things parents can do to minimize exposure to dust mites is to frequently wash linens and treat carpets and furniture. Parents should also keep children away from cigarette smoke and indoor pets.

Another great way to prevent asthma is for mothers to breastfeed. It is known that breast milk helps a developing child to have a better immune system. Most physicians even recommend that babies are breastfed at least until four months of age, if not longer.

In some cases, asthma is genetic, so some children even have a greater
risk.  It is important for expectant parents in this type of situation
to try to eliminate risk factors before a child is born.

Asthma sufferers usually have unique circumstances.  It is very rare
for two people to have the same risk factors, so it is important to
discuss asthma with your medical care provider for advice on your
particular case.
